Alumni success story-chris elledge
One of our favorite things at First Tee of Tulsa is to hear back from our alumni. We’re always so impressed with their stories of ambition, success, and making a difference. Recently, we received a note from one of our most enthusiastic past participants, Chris Elledge. Chris is currently in medical school but took the time to write us about what his experience at First Tee meant to him.
“I just wanted to express my gratitude and thanks. You may not know this, but golf, the First Tee, and everything you were able to do for me saved my life. I’m not sure where I would be without it. And for that I cannot thank you enough. I just hope, that in some way, I was able to help some of the individuals I worked with during my time at First Tee, just as you all helped me. I am currently living in Miami, Florida attending medical school at the University of Miami, working on my PH.D in Biomedical Science with a research specialty in Cancer Biology. I work in the cancer clinic with patients to determine their disease and progression. My lab research consists of designing new therapeutics and treatments for those patients. In my opinion, there is no greater joy than to help others and I truly believe that this life lesson was instilled in me through my time at the First Tee.” Chris Elledge — First Tee of Tulsa Alum
We’re extremely proud of Chris and glad to have played a role in helping him become the thoughtful young man he is today.

The Red Bud Cup is an interclub golf event that featured some of the best players from Cedar Ridge Country Club, Oaks Country Club, Patriot Golf Club, Southern Hills Country Club, and Tulsa Country Club. The Captains from the five teams selected The First Tee of Tulsa as the beneficiary for this year, and future years as well! On behalf of all of the First Tee participants, parents, grandparents, and staff, we would like to thank all of the Red Bud participants and captains for their tremendous support! We greatly appreciate it!
Reading and Math Clinic
The First Tee of Tulsa offered a FREE Reading and Math clinic held at The First Tee Learning Center in August for all students 10 years old and younger. We hired professional educators to come in and teach classes preparing our PLAYers to go back to school. The teachers used a variety of indoor activities and golf games to stimulate lots of learning. Our gratitude goes out to Mrs. Blackburn and Mrs. Davis for all their efforts to make this a fun experience for our students. Their passion for teaching and educating children were evident in the excitement our students displayed while learning.
We are conducting a 3-hole, 9-hole, and 18-hole tournament on Thursday, August 9th. Tee times will begin at 10:00 am. All of our tournaments are provided at NO COST. Don’t miss this chance to play some competitive golf and HAVE FUN!
To register, please contact Coach Tommy at firstname.lastname@example.org
